Weigh-in Rules

Weigh in must be done within 2 hours before the 1st squat attempt
Scale must be digital with at least 1 decimal place and set to zero before weighing.


Squat Demonstration Video


Squat Rules

1. An obvious level of control is required before and after the lift to imitate the presence of a “start” and “rack” command.
2. Squats must be to competition depth, crease of the hip is at or below the top of the knee.
3. No double bounce or up-down motion during the ascent.
4. Raw with knee sleeves, knee wraps are not approved.
5. Three spotters are required for a squat of up to 200kg and five spotters for over 200kg.
In the starting position the lifter shall...
1. Retain the barbell horizontally across their shoulders or upper back
2. Have both knees locked to the lifter’s full extension of those joints and be upright through the trunk save for a slight deviation from the vertical.
3. Have both hands grasping the bar inside the bar’s internal collars, such that all the fingers of each hand, other than the thumbs, are touching the bar.

We shall No Lift a squat attempt if...
1. At any point in the attempt the lifter’s elbows or upper arms made contact with their body in such a manner that an advantage in the lift was gained.
2. At any time in the lift after the lowest point of the lifter’s descent there was a downward movement of the entire barbell.
3. The lifter failed to achieve an upright position at the completion of the lift.
4. The lifter returned the barbell to the rack prior before a brief pause at the top imitating the presence of a “rack” command.

All lifts must be performed on a power bar (stiff bar) equipment, but no approved brands are required.
Ensure your full body and one side of the bar are in view for the entirety of each video.
Ensure one side of the plates are shown separately and clearly after each lift.
All videos must be recorded in a level and stable position (using a tripod).
All video quality must be at least in or above HD resolution.
All videos must be recorded from the 45° angle to the front.
All videos must be recorded with a timestamp (can use Timestamp Camera Basic app on the App Store for free) to prove weigh in and lifting time and date.


Bench Press Demonstration Video


Bench Press Rules

1. An obvious level of control is required before and after the lift to imitate the presence of a “start” and “rack” command.
2. An obvious level of control is required when the bar is on the chest, to imitate a motionless pause before the “press” command.
3. No suicide grip.
4. Three spotters are required for a bench press of up to 200kg and five spotters for over 200kg.
In the starting position the lifter shall...
1. Have the barbell at the lifter’s complete arms’ length.
2. Not have either of their hands placed on or outside the machined ring markings 81cm apart on the bar such that any part of the markings are visible.
3. Have the hands both facing forward on the bar and all the fingers and the thumbs of each hand enclosed round the bar.
4. Lie on the bench with the head, shoulders and buttocks on the upper surface of the bench, with feet fully on the ground.

We shall No Lift a bench press attempt if...
1. The lifter failed to achieve the start position at the beginning of the attempt.
2. The lifter failed to hold the bar motionless at its centre point of length on their trunk at the pectoral to abdomen area, or commenced the uprising of the Barbell prior to an obvious and brief pause.
3. The entirety of the bar descended during the press portion of the lift.
4. The lifter failed to raise the barbell to their complete arms’ length.
5. The lifter returned the barbell to the rack prior before a brief pause at the top imitating the presence of a “rack” command.

Deadlift Demonstration Video


Deadlift Rules

1. An obvious level of control is required after the lockout to imitate the presence of a “down” command.
2. Straps are not allowed.
3. The lifter shall then raise the barbell to a completed position in which the lifter has their
a)Trunk and hips fully upright.
b) Knees locked to the full extension of the joints.
c) Shoulders at the top centre of each side deltoid vertically aligned with or behind the centre line of each same side of the lifter’s trunk.
4. The bar may stop on the ascent but otherwise must move upwards in a continual movement until the completed position is attained.
5. The lifter’s feet must stay in place throughout the uprising of the barbell, aside from any rocking back and forward in place.
6. The lifter must control the downward movement of the barbell and keep both hands on the bar until the barbell is resting on the platform.
7. One spotter is required to stand behind the lifter.

We shall No Lift a deadlift attempt if...
1. The lifter failed to reach the fully upright, knees locked, shoulders held back position.
2. The entire bar descended at any point before a brief pause at the lockout imitating the presence of a “down” command.
3. The bar was supported on the lifter’s thighs at any point (no hitching).
4. The lifter raised his or her foot or feet, or moved his or her foot or feet laterally, at any time before a brief pause at the lockout.
5. The lifter took their hand or hands off the bar, or failed to control the barbell’s downward movement, after the brief pause at the lockout.
